whats in a name?

So its been months now since I posted anything here, and any reasonable person would assume that I had given up on this blog completely. I've been thinking about posting stuff and not, and starting tapes and not finishing them, and basically being really fucking lazy about the whole thing.

But now, 2 months since I started doing this, I finally have another tape to share.  60 minutes of songs written to or about people that are specifically named in the song, or in most cases, are the actual name of the song.  Mostly women, although there are an awful lot of rock songs about Johnny.  Maybe a Johnny-themed mixtape is in the cards for later, it wouldn't be too hard to do.

rain or shine

for this inaugural mixtape i was thinking of some kind of mixtape-themed mixtape.  the metamixtape, if you will.  but i will not.  i instead opted to finish this weather-themed mix that i started a couple weeks ago when it was raining for days straight and i was stuck inside listening to music and thinking about rain.  it made a lot of sense at the time.

it's pretty self explanatory, really; songs about rain, or about sun.  or both.  but more rain that sun, just cause that's where my musical tastes are more likely to end up i guess.

i made you something...

so i've been meaning to do this for a while and just now gotten around to it...as much as i use the interweb it still confuses me, especially when it comes to doing new things, like blogging, or uploading files, or any of that shit. i think i kind of have it figured out, maybe. we'll see how it works.

hopefully, at some point, one of these here mixtapes will end up keeping you company on a roadtrip, or on the subway, or on a long walk. maybe it will end up living in your car or kitchen, or a freebox en route to a new home. the lifespan of cassette tapes is mysterious, and full of intrigue. i just hope that at some point, someone will end up with a mixtape that they maybe, hopefully, enjoy listening to.  that's the idea.
